Do it. There's a couple threads on TTORA with people that have painted those wheels black, they look sweet. Do a nice gloss black!

The stockers don't look good black IMHO, but if you like it, go for it!

i dotn like those wheels black, especially with the white writing on the tires....

also if you paint them, dont use gloss black, gloss is the worst to clean and the hardest to touch up....

i personally think the soft 8 style black rims would look good on your truck, they are basically rockcrawlers steel rims, but have 8 holes in them instead of the d window

chrome rims would look alot better with the chrome sidesteps, but if the whole truck was blacked out it'd be cool.

Feel free to photoshop some crawlers from this pic of my rig...

I'd do it, but I'm headed out the door.

Not bad. I am not a fan of the white lettering.
My choice, at the moment

I got a MSM 3rd Gen 4R with 16x8 ARE ATX Victors (same ones Filthy Rich has, except I have center caps). They acent my grille guard very nicely. I get nothing but looks and compliments.

I like the black, but I'm not crazy about the OEM rims. However - to be fair - your lowest cost approach is to paint those OEM rims and see how you like the black. If you decide you want to go with other rims later, you won't be out a lot of $$$$ for the experiment...

Black rims

w/ whitewall tires out

On an all black truck...it needs to be all black...any other color rims or whitewalls out KILLs the look...

Black steel wheels are the single worst modification I did to my truck. They rode like crap, were heavy, were hard to balance and just generally ticked me off.

Good luck though.

So what would be a better way of getting black wheels? Don't they make black wheels that look like the tech 1's, but are aluminum?

Filthy rich, I really like those rims. The band on the edge makes them really stand out.

The entire lip of the rim is like that. Its machined/cleared/teflon'd.

Here they are on my truck. Ive been too lazy to take more/better pics, witht he new mod on there, partly because I cant get that damn mod to work.

EDIT: Im getting McGard SplineDrive lugs on there, and Im getting the Black Teflon coated centers.
