I think the general consensus is that black on black looks GOOD. No one ever looked at my polished aluminum on beige and said: "man, that's tight!" Go for it!

edit to put in smiley emoticon - yes it was that important

I like black rims on any color car or truck. I don't like it when people paint their stock rims black. Looks corny. Just buy rims that are suppose to be black.

To many black steelies in town. Seems to be the fad plus you can pick up black steelies dirt cheap.

I do however like black rims but I'm not one to follow the general pop =) So I have aluminum wheels, someone here has the same rims on his newer 4runner and it looks damn sick.

Well, I am the original poster of this thread (which I completely forgot about), and since someone bumped it, I'll post what wheels I ended up with. I have 16 x 8 Eagle Alloy 1378's.

I painted the outer ring area of my Eagle Alloys. Went from this:

To this:

The bronze color is actually Rustoleum metallic antique brass. I also painted the beadlock bolts and center caps Rustoleum semi-gloss black.

I really like the way they came out.

i painted my stock wheels with bedliner for the time being because they had quality peeling chrome, now i am hunting in the local junk yard for the factory 5 spokes. my wheels look far superior now compared to before and it was cheap.
