Bigger brakes on 1st gen
I just got my 87 runner back from the shop for brakes as I haven't had time in months, and the tech said that I have aftermarket or brakes from a 2nd gen on it.Is there a difference in them?He said the ones that are on it are bigger than stock.None of the parts he pulled for an 87 fit.

i know the 2nd gen runners have thicker rotors on them so they need a bigger caliper but i thought the pads were the same and the calipers were exactly the same dimensions except they were wider. I dunno though they could be completely different. Is it possible you have a 2nd gen rotor on there.

i have a 93 runner and tried to use the calipers from a 87 but they werent wide enough, but it looked like the brake pads would fit because the calipers were the same shape and what not, but 87 pads might not fit a 91 caliper if that is what you have.
