Been a while, new truck here

just picked up a new to me project.
1997 Tacoma x cab
4x4 5 speed manual
3rz
No rust on body or frame, couple dings and paint needs buffing

I was told the guy had problems with back firing, running rough and leaky valve cover gasket. He went to replace gasket and broke num 3 plug now it needs a head.

What I found : 1 and 2 came out easy. 3 didn't feel right. Plug wire would not go in all the way, sockets would not grab anything and a photo revealed something not right. Long needle nose pliars pulled out s broken plug wire sitting inside and coming through a socket. After I removed that I easily removed and replaced the plug and number 4.

New battery was needed badly, some fresh gas and she cranked over immediately. During a test drive I did blow the fan/alternator belt. The truck had been sitting about a year and half maybe 2 by the frustrated previous owner. So all belts were purchased as well as hoses and such.

I badly need to find the factory rubber shift boot under the leather decoration piece. It doesn't have one and the leather is ripped. It's loud and hott.

I cannot get brake light to turn off, brakes look good and work good but will be replaced shortly.

The passenger side front fender was primered. I got some automotive paint in a can as close to the color as I could, a lil prep and a few coats later and some clear it looks better. It will hold me over till I break the whole truck down and do a proper paint job.

Tires are stupid, 35x14.50-15 swampers on high offset 15x10 or 15x12 wheels. It rides like ˟˟˟˟ and thE tires wobble badly. Looking at getting new 33x12.50-15 and some basic black wagon wheel steelies next week.

Paid 750.00 for the truck.

It took a lil bit of elbow grease to get engine bay clean. Lots of degreaser and scrub daddy's. Nice also ate the wiring for the drivers side headlight. Easily fixed.

Notice the primer fender in first picture. Like I said, I bought a Toyota color but it was wrong and the closest I could find was a Honda. I think after I buff out the and compound the factory paint it won't look as bad.
