bad milelage

Hi, I've been getting very bad milelage the last few months, used to get average 16-18mpg, last now only getting 12-13mpg.
Changed the plugs, wires, using TRD air filter. Can anyone give me any ideas?

this is a new one

You might be experiancing the infamus oxygenated gasoline prob. I will be hones, i know nothing about it. Depending on the miled on your rig you might want to have your timing checked. A little less power and less MPG was the first sign on my rig that led to $860 worth of parts and work.

It's the winter fuel. I don't know if the octane level actually reflects the winter mixture. Wish I installed an ECT switch to retard timing to help. Some states have ethanol mixed in with the winter fuel others its some sort of alchemy mix.

Thanks for the quick response. I forgot about that winter gas additive,I think NY uses ethanol. But I'm also wondering about checking the timing. Never done it before. Don't want to go the dealer and be robbed. How do I do it? Besides getting a timing light?
