I was driving on the freeway and heard several loud "bangs"....couldn't be sure they were coming from my 2000 Toyota 4Runner....several miles later, I heard that bangs again. Could my 4Runner be backfiring? What would be the cause of this?

wow... welcome to the site... never heard of a newer truck doing this, imy carbed truck backfires, but only when its cold, and i know its not tuned right.....
