Be careful... Real Player is one of the WORST apps for installing crap that runs behind your back. You can turn it all off, but only after it installs. Look for a new systray icon, and there's a daemon service as well.

Pinnacle allows me to save the source in just about any video format, and any quality.
I used RM because it is the smallest file size that maintaines decent quality. Those files would have been at least 2x as large in AVI or MPG format.
