Question Aux Light Wiring

I'm getting ready to mount some Lightforce lights on the truck. I have a TJM up front but the original bumper had the cheese fog lights originally. What do you guys think about wiring the new lights into the old wiring? The controls already there, wirings done but I'm just not sure if I'm going to get enough power. Thoughts?

dont do it... those new lights will fry your cheesy stock wiring.... run new dedicated power lines... and if you must, use the switch only as a switch to trigger a relay

you could use the factory wires to activate a relay so the new lights get enough power through the relay from the battery.

EDIT: oops...yeah, what jim said.

If you need a harness...PM FilthyRich. I believe he has an extra one. Definately use an aftermarket one.

Using the stock wires to fire a relay is a great idea. Thanks for the idea.

Use the controls, but run new wires and use a new relay. The higher wattage of the new lights will expose any weakness in the old stuff (low grade wires, cuts, etc.). For the extra $20 or so it will be if you have to buy wires/relay is more than worth it.

These guys are right on. As long as the old system has a relay and 15-20 amp switch, all you'll have to do is route the new high-quality stuff in the same manner as the old. 2 Hours tops.
