Hayden write-up in the works even as I type

Mark,
...is that you'll have to get a larger inner diameter tubing than what comes in the package, which isn't long enough anyways. You'll need 3/8 transmission line tubing (not fuel!), probably 7 feet would be more than enough (I got 8, and think I had a couple feet left over), plus some of that plastic tubing for running wires (the name escapes me at the moment) as a safegaurd from holes rubbing through on the tubing. 3/8 will make the install a breeze, otherwise you'll be fighting to get the Hayden tubing to fit on the Toyota fittings.

FLEX TUBE is the name you are looking for. I got 3/4 diamter and it fit nicely over the 3/8 ID. 1/2 diamter flex tubing is too small.
I'll have a FULL write-up with lots of pics posted on my website within the next week. Put mine in - in about 3 hours.

What a huge thread on just a tranny cooler! Sass, I just went to Canadian Tire and picked one off the shelf for 70 bucks. Had it in in a few hours (plumbed it in series). Done. Perhaps it's a bit big for a compact truck (rated something like 24,000 GCWR!!) bc the cooling fan always engages even in mild weather; but coolant temps are really in check. I can beat on the mother with the a/c on, 35C, and 140 on the speedo and the gauge barely gets to half. That's it! I've decided now -- I'm getting a tranny temp gauge this week! Will report.

You can get a Hayden cooler for much cheaper! Rumor has it that Hayden makes the TRD one. Your local auto parts store should carry one. Get the largest one that you can fit. Also get the stacked plate type and not the tube and fin type. There is a great write up on RobinHood's site: http://www.robinhood4x4.com
Let him know if you used his instructions and be sure to give proper credit! Hope this helps.

A couple of points...
I think it might be worthwhile to mention how much fluid you had to catch (pint, quart, etc) so that folks can make sure they have a container around big enough.
And, on the other side of catching fluid, I think it'd be handy to know how much MORE capacity the cooling system requires with the Hayden inline. So, say you lost a pint when you pulled the hoses; then a fresh pint has to go back into the tranny, plus whatever capacity the Hayden adds.
Thanks!

Brian, ditto on the nice writeup!
You mounted yours exactly how I did mine too.
Guess great minds do think alike.
Mark, did you change your screen name?
I thought you were "mpulver"?

FYI I caught probably not even half a pint of tranny fluid as my garage pavement is ever so slightly tilted toward the rear of the vehicle. I would think that a cool whip bowl size container would be sufficient in most cases as that is what I used so I could just toss it after I cleaned up the fluid to recycle. I also checked my tranny fluid and it read full, so I did not replace any. I will check it again tonight and the rest of the week each night to keep an eye on it for a while.
I will post the updated material to the write-up on the website!
Thanks again Mark! Additional brains and eyes always work better!

Yeah, I asked Corey to change it. I'm working through my various online subscriptions and email lists (I'm on many forums across a couple of different hobbies) and moving away from "first initial/last name". Running that way just sounds so dang formal... "midiwall" comes from my "usual" persona which has to do with synthesizers, it's something that Ive been associated with since the early 90's.
Brian;
One Cool-Whip container coming up!
