I am looking for a good shop to rework my auto trans on my S/C 2000 4Runner in Southern California. I hadn't learned about the valve body mod until I had already begun to experience slippage. Now it is getting bad enough that I need to probably get the whole thing reworked.

Any recommendations for shops in Southern California? I live in San Diego.

Any lessons learned (beyond those on Gadget's site) as long as I am going to go through a likely rebuild?

Anyone have an answer? I have a virtually identical problem and have been unable to locate anyone in So Cal who can work on my tranny.

 

A couple years ago I took a Pontiac Grande Am to Ryans Transmission in Lake Forrest. They are a family opperated bunch of shops (3?) that may only be in the OC area but I don't really know. They did a great job (got it done the first time, took an extra day to get a part) and it was solid for the next 35k miles before I sold it. Price was very resonable and service (whats important to me) was top notch. Check 'em out.
