auto engine into manual truck ecu problems
Hey first time on this site and can't quite figure out what I need to do.
I have a 97 Taco 3.4 4x4 manual and the engine is pretty roached. I picked up another 5vz-fe for a good price but came out of a auto 99 Tacoma.
My question is can I drop the auto engine and harness into the truck with the manual trans etc ? Or do I need to change the harness out with the 97 harness?
Thanks guys

The harness should be the same, but I would try to unplug everything and drop just the motor in and use all your original stuff. The engine is the same and again the engine side of the harness should be the same on both. I’d worry that there was a Torque converter plug or the shape of the neutral safety switch is different or some thing.

Thanks dude. That's the plan. Label everything up and see what doesn't line up. This is my first engine swap so just want to have all parts ready so it can be smooth. So pull my original harness off and reattach it to the newer engine? I need to remove the torque converter still.
