i opted out of locking it last winter after the replies i received. i did fairly decent with my general grabber at2's. but i did still have trouble at icy intersections. surprisingly, if there was snow on the ground that my tires could pack and use, there was a pretty good chance that i was going somewhere. i'm revisiting this post to ask just a few more questions though. i found an info site called erik's toyota differential info: http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/#electric_lockers. i tried using the info to find lockers and lsd's but ran into a snag when i found conflicting info stating that the t100 ring gear was 7.5", not 8". i visually compared my diff to the pics erik has on his site and they seem to match up nicely. his info backs this up too "All 2wd and 4wd T100's, '00-06 Tundra's, and ?? Sequoia's use a newer/stronger 8" 2-pinion diff. Tacoma 4x4's and Tacoma PreRunner's that don't come with the electric locker (aka "non-TRD), as well as V6 Tacoma 4x2's also came with this diff." i originally wanted to buy an aussie due to the fact it was cheap and supposedly easy to install, but after viewing the site, i'm not sure they make a rear locker for my differential. will a truetrac be as easy to DIY, or is that something requiring special tools/knowledge. i have a haynes manual, basic tools, and my mits. last winter i used a whopping 300+ lbs of shingles in the bed of the truck. it worked well, but if one tire broke loose, it was over. so hopefully someone can answer these questions before the snow flies again.

T100's, sequoias, tundras, 6 lug non elocker tacos = "8.4" diff
elocked tacos and 4runners, and all 3rd gen 4runners = 8" v6
5lug tacos = 7.5"

Aussie makes a locker for the 8" and 7.5", but not the taco/t100 diff

If you want a lunchbox locker and your 6lug you have the lockright.....

if your 5lug the 7.5ifs aussie I believe will work on your truck
