Attention 4Runner experts

Guys-

Check out This 4Runner. Its in San Diego.

Details:

1997, 5 spd, 86,500 mi.

Basically everything I want except the mileage. I have a funny feeling about it though. The mirrors are painted. That doesnt look right to me, and worries me a bit. Does anyone else get a funny feeling about this one?

(I am in Phoenix, otherwise I would look at it in person).

Your advice is appreciated, and will help me on my quest to find my dream vehicle (96 - 99 4Runner, 5 spd, <70K miles) Let me know if you see anything in your area that would interest me!

My 98 mirrors are color coordinated. Is that unusual?

I just put up an engine shot too. Is that a Toyota Radiator? It looks different than my old 98 3.4. Front end collision maybe?

I have a White '98 with white mirrors. Nothing unusual about that. I couldn't get a good enough look at the radiator to tell if its original or not though.

The color keyed mirrors are factory mirrors. If you want to see if truck has been in an accident, get the VIN and check it on CarFax, it's worth the extra $15 or so...

Good Luck

Eric

There is a 1998 5-speed 4Runner for sale in Bountiful, Utah.
Dark Green, black textured fender flares, running boards, rack, sunroof, gold trim.

The interior is oak with leather.

There is no price on it, but I can get you a phone number if you are interested.

That would be awesome SLC!

There is another 4Runner in Bountiful...

Its at:
Dave Co. Auto Sales
West Bountiful, UT 84087

Desert Dune Metallic 5 speed, 79K miles.

Could it be the same one? (I am guessing not)

I can fly into SLC tomorrow morning around 9am if one of these works out. Oh, and if I buy the one you check out for me, you've got $50 for your troubles.

Whoa, what about the rest of us guys that said color-matched mirrors were standard?? That's gotta be worth like $5 or so.

Mirrors

It's all what your used to. I've got a 99 SR5 with painted mirrors and I think it looks great. Mine is that grey/silver color. I still
have the chrome bumpers, being an SR5. Looks very similar to the one you are looking at.
Good luck.

The one that I told you about earlier is from a private seller. I will go and check this one out too.

Let me know if you do fly up here, I can probably pick you up from the airport.

Thanks man, anything I can do to help a fellow Yota Member out.

lol, I met another guy last week in SLC off of the Outdoorwire.com boards , He wanted to ride in an S/C 4Runner.

Ok Do you have an address for Dave Co auto sales? I think I know where it is but just wanted to verify it. Did you find the ad in Autotrader.com??

I did find it in the Auto Trader, and I do not have their address.

However, this is their number:

1-866-780-1600 (Dave Een or Matt Een)

They said they were taking it up to Toyota to have it checked for me. So it could be gone for a short period of time.

That would be really great if I had two possible buys in the same city!

Well if they have it on the lot, i will take it for a test drive. My Dad has a 1996 4Runner 5-speed that he bought new, the truck has over 100,000 miles and it still on the origional clutch. Too bad my wife can't drive a stick or I would have bought one!

How about this Supercharged!!

Man, that is sweet looking. I wonder what type of trans is in it?

I can only get a 5spd, no auto's for me. That is cool about you taking if for a test drive, and that makes me feel better about the clutch in your dads 4Runner!

Hey, I heard they salt the roads in SLC. Can you take a peek underneath and see how the rust is looking if you get over there?

I am a little concerned with CV boots and corrosion. But I dont know.

Yes they do salt the roads here.

This is usually only a problem with the older (70's and 80's) cars, but I will also check the underside for you.

I am leaving work in 15 minutes, then I will run to my Apt and grab my dig camera and check those two out.

I will post the results later today.
