To anyone who has switched to a cone filter...

Did you notice an increase in power?

I'm thinking about going to a K&N cone filter since Amsoil doesn't have one. Does anyone have a PN by any chance for the one they used. They've got quite a few different choices in cone filters.

I'm making a last ditch effort to avoid selling the 4runner because I don't want a payment. So I'm going to add a cone filter, re-make my ISR, possibly replace my FPR because I think it might have issues, and richen up my mixture just a hair.

Thanks for the input.

I was told by my trusted mechanic friend that these engines are reliable but not strong or fast. If you can deal with its weakness and lack of speed, you'll enjoy this rig for a looooong time. If not, get one with a 3.4L.

I don't tow or speed much at all. So, I'm pretty happy with my 2nd Gen. If you can find a buyer, sell your '93 and find a decent '96+ (you're probably gonna need to make up for the balance).

I run a generic cold air kit intake with cone filter ($44 off Ebay) and have noticed a small increase in power and a huge increase in fun due to the growl of the engine.

Coupled with my new Magnaflow muffler I have noticed an increase. Is a lot of fun.

little bolt ons add just a tad bit of power, if u do several little things it adds up. but i think u have to get into the innyrds of the engine and start modding stuff to really get appreciable power gains. and ive noticed alot of the parts arent that pricy.

I've got the K&N kit and theres definately a sound/throttle response increase, theres also somewhat of a power increase (the dyno sheet from K&N says like 6 hp) and you really notice it at higher rpms like passin on the freeway. I'd be wary of the ebay filters the 2 I've seen had holes and stuff in em, real thin filtering material that didn't even cover the hole thing, also more holes appeared with use.
