That's the same reason I got MTRs also. Sidewall stregnth.

I've had no problems at all with my sidewalls, and they've seen a lot of rocks roots, etc. It's all about what you want and how you want them to look. I personally like pro-COMPS more, not saying that MT/R's are bad at all, but I like the procomps.

the G/Y MTR are a very good all around tire great in the snow a mud the only problem is the love sucking up sticks and stones causing flats but by them at a G/Y store and get the road side plan and the will pro rate them when the do go flat.

i bought the x-terrains on the buy three get one free deal, which i was told they (4wheelpartphux) run about four times a year now buy the salesman. i have been extremely satisfied with them, they get plenty of traction in the snow, mud, and sand. ive aired them down to 5lbs. and cruised all day on many trails on Mount Hood, giving me plenty of jagged volcanic rock to test strength and had not a single puncture or tear. i bought them for the deal, willing to give 'em a go, and am very happy with the performance so i definately recommend them. i can say nothing on the mtr's as i dont own them, so to try and judge them id be talking out my ass....jake

Bridgestone Dueler M/T!!!!!!!! They will be my next set of offroad tires...seems like they get better wear than most, they look like they can handle it offroad as well. Not sure about sidewalls, though....never heard a bad thing about them, though. They are pretty fairly priced as well.
