My back door on my 03 4runner works perfectly fine. I think read on the owners manual that you shouldn't push on the door while it is closing automatically.

No problems, but I seem to remember clicking when I first got it because of the 'ol slam it shut habit being hard to break. Now, I ease it closed to the point where the mechanism grabs it and locks. No clicking, easy closing.

back door not closing correct

Is there an adjustment for how it closes automatically? Mine was working well for about a week. Now it clicks when trying to close, and has play when the door is closed.

I guess I need to take it to the dealer. There has to be some kind of adjustment, unless they just replace the whole door.

Mine clicks as it goes through the closing operation but is then tight and quiet. This is one of those features that can only create problems down the road and isn't needed. I only hope that when a sensor or motor fails, that it can still be closed manually otherwise I'm sure that's a few hundred dollar repair. Maybe we're making cars just a little too sophisticated because eventually, electronics, motors, servos, sensors do fail and in today's world, they ain't cheap to replace. Oh well, if I don't use it much, perhaps it will outlast the warranty. I'm sure there's an adjustment that the dealer can perform fairly simply.

This is the part I'd be more worried about. Mine has no play when closed, and no one else has mentioned that theirs has any play.
