Last week, I visited a friend who works at NAPA auto parts. I left with a brand new set of NGK BKR6EKPB11. These are 1 step colder than stock and have 2 grounds. They are recommended by TRD for people running the supercharger. I installed the plugs on Saturday. I have been running Bosch plugs since I bought the 4Runner. The first set were Bosch Platinum +4s. The last set I replaced on Saturday were Platinum +2. Both are a waste of money when compared to NGK copper plugs. I didn't notice any change on the old plugs when I removed them. However, when I was double-checking the gap, I noticed one of the Bosch plugs wasn't gapped correctly. It was off by .008". I wonder how long I've been running with an incorrectly gapped plug? I also noticed almost all the plugs came out with little resistance.
After installing the new plugs, I went for a spin. What a difference! Throttle is noticably crisper and more responsive, acceleration is smoother, and I could swear that the engine is quieter.

So, at $6 a pop for Bosch Platinum +4, the NGKs are a better plug for less.

 

I have herd the NGKS are great for toyotas. I just got the NGK wire kit for $40 and it was a huge improvement. I have bosch plugs now but it looks like it is time to switch! Thanks for the info.

 

platinum+4 were hear to warp the plug hole because they heat up too much, some guy with a civic ruined his block, and yes it was stock, the crack head actually worked at autozone

 

Lets see . . . Bosch = German, NGK = Japanese. Makes perfect sense.
