I bored out the cat on my 99 taco and it got way less horse power and sounded awefull. Plus when I was calling around to get a new one put on, besides being laughed at, everyone told me that there ussually is no difference in the stock cat and a high-flow cat you can buy from shucks. There all the same. Now the new on I bought smells like rotten eggs, but I got my power and gas back.
Don't do it and save $200 bucks to have it replaced.
I didn't know this was a green-peace forum?

LOLVery cool considering how many other auto forums are all for breaking the law and bragging about it

I'm not going to go into the cat removal.
It's just dumb.

A few years ago I bought an '89 4Runner with the 3.0, AT and the previous owner had punched out the cat. It sounded horrible and had less power than normal for the 3.slOw. I replaced it with an OEM cat I was able to find and it sounded better and had a little better throttle response with no difference in MPG.
Besides being illegal, removing the cat as a power mod is a waste of time. Replacement cat's can be a little pricey -
