Annoying lights on chime

I guess the wiring is getting old on my 4runner or something is broken but I gotta fix this annoying chime! Everytime I open the door the car makes the lights on warning chime until the door is shut.

Is the actual light switch stick bad or is there somewhere else I should look? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,
Jeff

Anyone have any ideas on this? It would be nice to not hear the chime blaring every time I open the door. I dont want to just disable the chime as it is nice to know if you have left your lights on when you get out of your car. Anyone know where I can see a wiring diagram on the chime box and what wires lead into it?

Jeff

My '99 doesn't have a light chime; the car just turns off the lights if you exit the car with the key off. My guess is all '99+ are like that, so most of us have no way to help you. And all the on-line wire diagrams I have bookmarked are '99+, too. You need a '98 Wiring Manual. Sorry.

If I can find a wiring diagram I bet I can see if its the lights that are causing it or the key in ignition side thats causing the chime.

I'll look around.

I went ahead and dismatled the annoying buzzer at the bottom of the fuse box. I feel better now.
