Amp and Sub Question

Amp and Sub Question
Today, I just picked me up a Kenwood KAC-728s for real good price, and the question is which set up should I go for should go for 2 12inch Pioneer Subs at 2 ohms or at 4 ohms, or should I just run 1 15inch Pioneer Sub at 4 ohms? This is the deck Im running. So which set up would pound and be heard more? thanks hope you guys can really help with this one.

I would think that the 2 "12's" would be really thumping, but the single "15" would sound almost as good but the added benfit of the single is that it will take up less space (especially if you can get a Q-Logic sub box that rides over the rear fender well), that's the way I would go ... a very clean install and the back would still be able to hold a lot of gear.

One 15" will take up less room as Beowulf said, and still thump & pump.
In fact it's going to go lower than the 2 12" will, maybe just not as loud.
Here is my single 15" JL Audio W6 in a sealed enclosure.

2 12's are pretty damn loud...my friend has one and i personalyl dont think i need it that loud...but one 15 would crush some stuff too....personal preference i gues...take some pics when you get it done!!

Those were good points brought up. The 2 12" would be very loud, and would hit very hard, but the 15 would hit lower than the 12's, and would be a better pick for better SQ and not db. It all depends on what you are looking for. But i bet that Corey's W6 would hit hard enough for your application. the 2 12"s might be too loud for you, if you are young and stupid like me, it might be just right,jk, I personally like the 2 12's, but i wouldnt put it in my truck, too loud.

The 15" W6 does indeed get loud, besides low.
When I turn it up (I have the bass volume on 2) I can make the seats move in the tracks so it seems, and the quarter panels in the rear you can see them move too.
I don't play it up that loud very often. But the 15 is also nice when you have the main volume down, and still want nice deep lows.
My vote would be to get a 15, and have a nice custom box built by spec for the speaker.
Mine is angled up slightly so it aims at the rear window.
That is what I did.

One thing, you don't really need rear door speakers.
I only run the sub and front door speakers which are Infinity 6.5" Reference seperates.
That is plenty to fill the whole area with sound, and for rear passengers.
I rarely have anyone in the back seat though.
A lot of folk's say to skip the rear doors. You don't really need them.
Take the money and get some good ones for the fronts.

i agree with corey, skip the rear speakers. I made the mistake of getting some, but i dont even use them. I just run the front speakers. Yes, the 2 12"s will be pretty loud, not that loud though. Loud comes when you are running like 300w to each one.

Why not install it yourself? That's what I'm planning to do... you think I've ever done a stereo install? LOL. No.
But if you do some recon. you can pick it up quickly....
Sure, it's easy to pay someone to do the install... but the satisfaction won't be there....
Damnit, man!! It's a become a QUEST for me!
