I am a new guy on the board, but I am going to put in my 2 cents anyway. Flying the flag is great, but take care of it. If it becomes dirty, torn or otherwise damaged change it. Before you mount it check out the Flag code (google) I think it will tell you to mount it on the front of the vechicle. (nothing should come before the flag) Yes this bothers me when people fly the Flag and then forget about it. I have removed damaged Flags from cars in parking lots and picked them up from the side of the road. Pleas don't let this be you. Just my opinion Bryan.

 

bryan,I agree with you,I see so many people running those cheapie flags that stick inside the door rail and those things become so ratty quickly and the American flag should not be flown if it's getting faded or trashed and you have the means to not let it get that way.

I've gotten crap from domestic guys on car boards for just driving an import. I was able to put Camaro owners in their place tho' when I reminded them my Mitsubishi was built in Illinois and there Camaros were built in Canada.

 

If you're going to fly it just make sure to put it on the righthand side of the vehicle according to protocol please

 

oops thanks for that info, the truck im driving now (91gmc sonoma just cuz i dont ahve insurance for the runner yet) but ive been flying the flag on the back of the truck on the left side

Arguing over American policies on site with a bunch of Americans is a complete waste of time, so I won't... But I could.

 

I totally agree with you about taking care of the flag if you are going to fly it on a vehicle or otherwise.

However, on a civilian vehicle I don't think it matter where it's flow from unless it's flow with another flag (state flag, or god forbid the rebel flag). As far as placement, I'm not sure what the "code" is for that. I do know that on Coast Guard Cutters, while in port the National Ensign is flow on the stern (rear) and underway over the bridge (where you steer). Also, the Union Jack is always at the front of the vessel. On small boats it's flown on top of the vessel. Just some general knowledge.

But I feel if someone has enough support for this country to fly the National Ensign on their vehicle, put it where you can find a spot. Generally the front isn't going to be an option on a civilian vehicle.

the flag looks a bit big in proportion to the size of the pole, but when it's on the hitch, it's a good 2 feet furthur off the ground. the pole will be painted next year too - probably white.
