I've got a 98 runner and don't know if I have a factory alarm or not. Obviously I've got the power locks and all that but I didn't get a keyless entry when I bought it used a year ago. Is an easy way to tell?

Well if you dont have a controler for the truck you most likely dont have one or one that you can use unless you get the controler. Check under the hood for a speaker that alarm systems use that would be the first thing to look for

 

my 98s control unit is under the drivers seat and the window has a VIP sticker. if you have the unit you can get a remote for it online and very easily program it.

 

Do you have a red blinking light somewhere on the dash when it is locked? If not then a very good chance you don't have it.

The factory alarm is real bad anyways so i would not be real disoppointed about not having it.
