Have a 96 4 runner with 140K on it.


Took it out the other day and turned on the AC when I got on the freeeway (5 minutes after starting car) and the green light did not turn on and it blew hot air. I turned the AC on and off several times, changed from circulated to outside air, adjusted the coldness, but nothing worked. then when I got off the freeway maybe 10 minutes later I tried it again and it worked. I left it on for the 1 hour and it worked fine.

Anyone have an idea? The AC has never been serviced.

Sounds more like an electrical issue than anything mechanically wrong with the AC.
I'd wait until the problem was occuring again and then troubleshoot.
