What in the world could have happened to my tires? I haven't done anything wrong with them... today I saw my front passenger tire was low so I filled them all up... then I go to work and when I go outside 5 hrs later... its back down to around 15 psi! Its not really going completely flat... but there is a big buldge... hmmm

 

unseated a bead?

check around the lip of the rim for air. get a spray bottle, fill it with soapy water, and spray around the rim to see if air is leaking.

 

What do you have to do to cause that to happen?

 

coulda just ran over a bump. I unseated a bead on RR tracks before.

 

tires bulge if they have 15 psi in them... you probably have a nail in the tread... if it bulged @ say 40 psi, then you have a differnt problem, but as to your description that does not seem to be the case

 

What do you do for them to fix it?

my tires are only about 6 months old

 

if it's a nail, you could patch it. you can get a patch kit from wal mart

 

look like it might be the start of some sidewall seperation to break it down in simple terms a very un good thing to have on tires...I would not be driving them at speeds above 30 until check by a tire shop and more than likly replaced....

 

i just checked it and it says it has 20 psi...

doesnt it look like it has more than that?

wonder if they are still under warranty

 

if it is losing air, the tire will bulge.... take it to a tire shop and have them do a flat repair....

unless there is something major wrong, and there probably isnt... all tires when aired down that low bulge!

 

ya i imagine.. just kinda pissed hah

i already have plans to take it tomorrow.. got to drive it to school...

so that kind of sucks..

 

If you have a Kauffman Tire around you they will patch it for free.
I'm in Georgia and everytime i go in there they dont charge for a patch.

 

that's what I thought... use a spray bottle and look for a leak on the rim. it would be faster, and cheaper than taking it to a tire shop.

 

but with the spray bottle.. is it to low for that to work right now? or would air still be leaking?

 

air would most likely still be leaking a little

 

I know this will sound dumb, but have you checked for nails?

have a tire shop check it out... im not saying you cant do it yourself or that tire shop technicians are any better then you, but i used to work in a shop. and i was so used to finding nails that the untrained eye would have never seen, also they have a dunk tank, and using a dunk tank isolates the air more then a spray bottle as a spray pattern introduces bubles into the water left... and that can give a false reading by either making you think there is a whole where there isnt, or masking one up where there is one

 

ok well then I agree with Jimabena! it is probably a tiny nail somewhere. or a GHOST!
