Adjusting air direction doesn't do much?

In my 95 Toyota Tacoma pickup, when I move the lever to adjust the air from the side vents, to either the windshield or the floor, it doesn't seem to do much. I've looked under the passenger side and can see one cable move back and forth, so I think at least one inner door is moving, is there another cable some where? The heat adjust cable works fine. I can't seem to get much air directed down at the floor. Plus when my windshied fogs up, and I have the setting all the way over to defrost, not a lot of air comes out, even with the blower on high. What could be wrong? I really hate to pull the whole dash out, not even sure where to start.

Do you have a 95 pre-Tacoma or a 95.5 Tacoma?

I'm pretty sure it's a 95.5 Tacoma. Would that make a difference in the heating section?

I think the heating/AC controls all changed between the 95 & 95.5. Does your truck say Tacoma on the body anywhere?

Sounds like you have the model before the Tacoma then, does your body style look like this: http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/95.jpg

If so, maybe the moderators can move this to the right section to get you more help. I've got the same model truck but never had any problem with the HVAC system. I think it is all a system of levers and cables controling the vent doors on the pre-Tacoma models. I don't see anyway around taking at least part of the dash apart to see what's wrong. It's not that hard, just start taking out every screw you can find and gently pull or flex the plastic to see where the hidden screws or clips are. Take your time and don't use too much force, IIRC some screws are hidden behind small plastic planels that snap into place. I'd probably start with the glove box and maybe you can see a vent just removing that.

This is for the 93 model but yours should be the same: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../9instrume.pdf
