AAAARRRRRGGGHHHH, New Cam Seal Leaking

Just got done doing a timing belt on my 3.4 swap in my '91 (first time I've ever done one ) and got it all buttoned back up, and took it for a low rpm test drive. She started puking oil everywhere. Evidently, my left cam seal folded, kinked, or something, and is letting 710 fluid blow by worse than a New York cabbie at a red light.

My question is, do I have to tear it all down again to replace just that seal, or is there some way to just remove the cam gears and the back plate?

If I have to tear it all down again, do I need another NEW crank bolt?

I really don't want to tear it all down again, but if that is what it takes to do it right...I don't want to half arse it.

Let me know, I may have the chance to fix it this weekend.

I vote tear down. On the bright side, its easier the second time.
I have reused crank bolts before with no failure.
Bum deal man. I feel you're pain.
Good luck

Need to know about the bolt definitely. I've heard horror stories. Although if this engine does bite the big one, a friend is pushing me to let him swap a 7.3 L International Powerstroke into it....Needless to say, that could get interesting. I just want to keep it on the road for a while.

I had a bad harmonic balancer/crank pulley, it was cracked, so I pulled it a few times reusing the same bolt and 10,000 miles later its still holding. But they are only 10 bucks from the dealer if you want piece of mind. Maybe reuse it until you've confirmed the seal is fixed then replace it?

710 fluid. That's funny.
