Talking 99 Taco, Bob and Chop.

Well some bed damage from the trail a while back prompted me to do a bed bod and trim the skirts at the same time..

Take an adventure with me along this road I have never traveled..

Tonight I started off by getting the stock bumper and hitch out of the way..
I didnt take a before pic, Because theres many other pics that will suffice..

Heres a good one that shows just how much extra junk metal is there in the first place..

After the bumper and hitch was off I got started on the side that was fubared

You'll Notice I did deviate from the tape a bit...
Before you get your panties in a bunch, I couldnt get tape on there straight in the first place, The line I made as I was cutting looked pretty straight to me.. And If it isnt when all is said and done, Well more reason to more..

Thats as far as I got tonight.
Tomorrow ill have the spare out of the way, and Ill start on the other side..
I think its going to be a week or two before I actually do the bob process so please be patient with me..

More to come

For the bob im going to make the tail gate basically even with the shackles, on these beds IIRC that equates to about 6-8" taken out..

It was very difficult to measure with the skirt overhang, so now that everything is trimmed up and out of the way I can actually see and measure exactly how much im going to take out..
So that answer isnt exact yet

And for the bumper..

Yes yes and yes.. , You know what I mean... Lol.
I have lots of ideas in my head for the bumper though..

For the Record, Here's my inspiration..

This truck pictured, Was a 00 Regular cab.
Now: Its an ext cab and 3.4 swapped onto the reg cab frame, to keep the short reg cab wheel base yet gain the space of an ext cab..
Search for his build on TTORA..

Yah. your cut doesn't look level.. but that's minor, toss a 2 foot level on there and use tape or a sharpie! plans for some mounting for your spare, jack, equipment so it doesn't get lost or stolen? Its going to look swwwweet...

I think its the rear rake thats making it more exagerated...
Im not to worried about that tough, it can be taken care of..
Reat bumper with some side protection, and a spare tire carrier made out of a brake drum, some lug studs.. and some metal for in the bed

THat wont work if the trucks not level. Toss a level on the bed rail and get that level THEN make your cut level

More

So I was up at 9 and at work on this this at 9:30..

basically put another 3-4 hours in it..

Got the left side skirts trimmed and the license plate light mounted and wired up..

This side was another one of the, might not look level, there was more trail damage on that side, you can see it in a pic in post one..

Its got a MAJOR rake now that the bumper and hitch is gone..

You can see the spare isnt there anymore, got it down and out of the way..

Took out my tool box, Ammo cans, and bedliner

Thats all for today
