99 Limited Push button 4wd issue

In my 99 Limited, with the AWD push button option, the AWD wont engage while im moving, well sometimes it will, but with no predictability. It will engage most of the time if I put it in park before I push the button. Other times it will just flash at me until I turn it off.
Funny thing is, it drives like its in 4wd when its flashing while driving, it just wont turn solid. I don't have a problem ever when pulling the lever, just the button while moving.

Does this happen to others? I know you can't turn it on above 62, but other than that I can't figure it out. Its not vital, just annoying to have to come to a stop, shift into park, then wait then drive.

Any ideas what I should take a look at? Hoping to get this solved if its not too involved, before everything is snow covered.

Thanks!

wow very interesting. i wonder how rare this is I have seen a few 99 limited but never saw that. could possibly be a solenoid issue. try hooking up a diagnostic computer to it. The flashing light can be an error code.

Ehh, I just drove a '99 Limited with push-button four-by high. Don't know much about it, but I know it was there, on the left side of the transfer-case knob.

Any 99 limited with 4wd will have the multi-mode 4WD. Yukon, many people have had this problem and I have attached a link to one of the better threads, however I will encourage you to search as this has been a frequently discussed topic.
