you'll get lift, just not as much as compared to the lift say a 97 would get. they all end up at the same height.

 

You'll definately get a lift, but I am not sure you'll get enough to run 285/75R16s w/o rubbing.
You can get away with 265/75s or 275/70s just fine though.

Your truck will sit pretty much the same as mine when you are done.

no these coils wont fit a '95. It is only for the 3rd gen 4runners('96-'02).

I have a 2000 2wd, if I bought these springs, I could just replace my old springs with 4 from a 99 (used or new), use my old shocks, reinstall them... and I'd get like a 2" lift??? Am I reading this right?

Same here...It sounds like the 99 model springs are the ticket for my sagging 98 model.

 

mine is 2wd i have 3" spacers with 99 coils in the rear, it is about an inch taller in the rear, i will try to get a better level pic, but there is one in my profile

 

I have a set from my 99 4x4 highlander with the tow package. I took them out at about 82,000 mi. the going price seems to be $100 shipped. let me know if your interested.

 

Don't expect miracles from those springs though because they are still quite soft and may sag under load. The OME and PP springs are definately better under loaded conditions. Also people with 2WD will likely get more benefit (ie slightly more lift) than those with 4WD.

 

At what mileage do you guys think coils become "tired"? I replaced mine at 100k since mine seem to have too much bounce to them. IMO I wouldn't put used coils on my truck unless they had something like under 40k on them since with anything near 100k you'll just be replacing tired coils with another set that starting to get tired.

 

This is exactly why buying used OEM springs makes no sense to me. As soon as you put load on springs w/ decent mileage, they will sag. Even worse if you add a spacer for the rears.

 

The shocks may be gone if you're getting too much "bounce" in the rear. I agree that used coils are probably not the way to go (since new OEM coils are pretty cheap anyway) but spacers will definately accelerate the sagging process since it adds to the stress on the springs from precompression.

 

I would think people buy used coils, because they're cheaper than new :-). Mine were fine when I removed them. I wanted to upgrade so I bought the PP springs and Bilsteins. And when do coils wear out? depends on how they were used, doesn't it? If you drive 150,000 hi-way miles with no load, the coils are prob still good, but if you drive 40,000 towing a big heavy trailer and with a loaded cargo bay, are the coils still good?
The bounce is caused by bad shocks. worn out shocks can no longer dampen the coil spring action.

 

$250 isn't too bad for new stuff and the shocks were only about $100 to replace on mine.

 

Do you mean towing as load or spacers as load or both?

Where is the best place to buy the '99 coils new?

I don't care how much you babied a truck but with 150k on the coils they won't be anywhere what new rides like. New is still the way to go even if it is double the used price but you won't be replacing "new" for a long time and you can abuse them.
