99-02 4Runner LTD Bumper

(I have searched the board hard without getting the information I need.)

I need to remove the top trim piece on my bumper to access a broken bolt in order to install a set of Hellas'.

The part I am talking about is right below the grill.

I have already removed the grill and the headlights. I have removed the screw/clip on the back edge. It appears that there are other parts holding it on.

At this point I am considering pulling the entire bumper since access is a PITA.

Is anyone familiar with this style bumper and how it the parts are attached?

I took mine off last year to Rhinoline it. Just take the whole bumper off. It's only like 6 bolts \ nuts and it's very light. That way you can double check all the bolts for rust or any other damage.

I just had a look at the bumper lying on my driveway, and there are a buch of small bolts holding that piece on, and a couple of plastic clips. I didn't count the bolts exactly, it's cold, dark and raining outside but it looked like 10 or so. I'm thinking there may be clearance issues removing the plastic trim while the bumper is on the truck, so you might be quicker just removing the bumper first.

Eric -

Thanks for going out! I see the clips and the bolts. I will pull the bumper and just wing it.

Getting the bumper off is good. This way I can work on it inside the house and not outside, on my back, in the snow/ice/dark and 18 degree temperatures : )
