98' 5VZFE PS Flush
I have some noise coming from my power steering pump. The pulley seems warped because it wobbles when the engine is running. Do you think a simple drain and refill/bleed will resolve the noise, or should I swap out the pump/pulley? Thank you.

Try this link: http://forum.ih8mud.com/95-gen-toyot...n-4runner.html. Thank raydouble for it.
How old is the PS belt? If old, change it along with a good cleaning with a brass brush on the pulley.
If it still whines after new fluid, you could try this:

I havent done the work yet, but why doesn't raydouble pull the hoses off and flush? is there a reason he extracted with a baster over and over? also, i didnt know it was actually atf. i will have to go back to the store and return the power steering fluid i bought. thanks for the info!!

I used the GSGALLANT technique described here:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/3...ng-post-81347/. You only use the baster in the beginning. You don't need to put the jug on the ground, however. I found a spot close to the pump where my jug fir nicely and it made things easier. Just keep it out of the fan, belts, moving stuff.

I flushed mine by pulling the return line, capping the pump return, and then extending the return line into a jug, similar to The Durk. It does come out fast, I turned off the engine no later than 4 seconds after I started it. It took close to 3qts to get clean. Raydouble's method just different but works well.....

I prefer the two man done in 5 minutes method more myself, just wanted to show people you could get the same results with one person.
Personally I didn't want to run into a problem where the pump was empty and engine was still running.

since i didnt have any assistance, i used raydoubles one man method to flush. it took about an hour, but my fluid went from dark brown, to atf red. i can also see some debris resting on top of the little screen. i am happy i did the flush and all, but i am still hearing what sounds like a belt/pulley noise when the engine is started. not sure where to go from here. when i have time, i guess i will take a length of hose and hold one end to my ear, and slowly move the other end around the engine compartment to see if i can pinpoint where the noise is located. i will let you know. thanks for all your help.
