Hi Everyone,

I just Got my first 4runner about 6months ago. It's a 98 Sr5 2wd with about 160xxx. on it. I have Run into some problems and wondering whats the best route to go...

1. My evap canister Ticks alot...Makes a tick Tap noise Loud....
2. my engien has alot of oil resude on the side walls...Dont know where from
3. The bar right under the tranny has alot of trans fluid on it... Cant find a leak.

1. Don't know
2. Valve covers are likely cause.
3. sure it's not engine oil? Could be power steering.

 

1) the evap noise is normal. Freak me out when I first got the truck but it's perfectly normal. Don't worry about it.
2) Agree with SocalPaul, more than likely the valve covers.
3) Could be power steering or just overflow from someone filling it previously. Wipe it down and take a look back in a day or so. See if it comes back.

 

Sounds Good.. Yah I Was Going Crazy Over that Evap Noise...
I'll Have to check on the Valve cover.....
It's not engien Oil... Its Bright Red in color...

If it is a red oil it is going to be tranny fluid
