97 4Runner won't start

Just replaced head gaskets on my 97 3.4 4Runner that has 150k miles on it. Replaced timing belt and water pump as well. Just finished up and it won't start. Battery is fully charged. When key is turned I hear 3 clicks and they are not from the starter. Any ideas?

Too many possibilities for a solid answer to this question.

Won't start, or won't turn over?

Checked connections, fuses, trying jumpering the starter, etc etc etc? Does it have an aftermarket alarm?

Its pretty impossible for anyone on the internet to figure out what happened to your 4Runner between running, and you 'fixing' it. At least without a LOT more information.

-Re-trace steps. Check connections and wiring.

-Check battery.

-Discharged battery...?

-Check battery terminals for good/tight connections...?

-Battery cables...?

-Grounds connected...?

-Engine seized...?

-Park or neutral starting...?

Will not turn over. Just 3 solid clicks from a box on passenger side fender well. No noise from the starter.

I checked fuses.

Rechecked all electrical connections.

Motor turned via crank bolt fine during repair.

Cleaned and tightened battery connections.

Battery is new and I charged it again to make certain it was full.

Attempted to start in park and neutral and shook the gear selector while attempting to start.

I bought the 4Runner used. It does have an alarm. How can I tell if it is OEM or aftermarket. My initial thought was this is alarm related.

Thanks for the help !!

What, exactly, is this box on the fender well? If you don't know what it is, post a picture of it.

Aftermarket alarm. Unplugged the connector from the alarm box and the 4Runner started up and ran well. Not getting a coolant temperature reading to the gauge. Looking for temp sensor now.

Thanks.

Its almost always aftermarket alarms in these situations.
