97 3.4 Runner with EGR??

Hi all.

I usually dont post in the Taco forums since I have a 92, but I have a 3.4 swapped into my 92 and am having an issue.

I tripped a P0400 code which translates to a "P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow".

What stumps me is that as far as I can tell there is no EGR physically, or electronically. I wired this myself and studying the Toyota electronic diagram makes no mention if the EGR and the pinout for the ECM also shows no EGR pinout.

A little history. Originally this was an auto and I am using the auto harness. I have since swapped to a manual and changed the ECM to a 97 RUnner, 3.4, 4x4, manual ECM. I swapped the pins function for function and everything runs perfectly. I was having trouble getting the Cat and EVAP monitors to run their tests but apparently they have now, but this code is stored. There is no check engine light on either.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

Have you checked the part number of the new ECM? Because there is no P0400 listed for the 3.4. just as there is no EGR on the engine. It had to come from somewhere. So maybe that ECM came from somewhere else.

I dont have my own OBD2 scanner so I am going to have to get one. I am hoping that the guy was wrong, or my son wrote it wrong.

I cant see how this code could appear in this vehicle.

ECM is clearly labeled as 5vze, manual, 4x4. Part # 89661 04130
