Hey guys I've got an impromptu road trip coming up in my newly acquired 96 4runner. It does not have the factory tire tools and I was wondering if there's a link or some pics of the tools that get the spare tire off. I can fab something up here at work but I need to know what to build. We're talking 3rd gen 4runner here. Thanks for any info. Just don't want to get stranded if I do get a flat..

Yes looked under the back seat as well as several others at the junkyards. No luck. After more searching it sounds like I can just use a long 3/8" socket extenstion. Gonna try that this evening. I need to leave friday morning so I don't have time to order anything.

I have never ever been able to get a spare down without the torch or grinder.

Then they were flat and dry rotted being neglected for years

Then the idea of crawling underneath to check the spares air pressure gets old if you don`t have a lift.

Known rust lowers mine every 2 years when I take it in to get oil undercoated, on my lifted 4R I have to use a different jack now and a 3/8" extension as the hole no longer lines up, I have 2 spare kits I'm not using, surely there is lots at the wreckers

I took a 3/8" extension, cut in half and welded a 2' long piece of 1/2" solid rod on to it. Welded T handle on there and works absolutely perfect. Throw in a bottle jack and a lug wrench and I'm good to go. Tire lowers down easy even after sitting for 12 years. In the high desert of norttheastern California. Not a speck of rust on this bad boy. Doing a 1200 mile road trip this weekend, hope everything holds up
