'96 4runner 3.4 hard start

I did a search on this and couldn't find one that sounds like my problem, any help is appreciated. My truck cranks a few times before it starts up whether it is cold or hot out, it always starts but takes a bit. When it starts the radiator fan is on and the engine sounds loud, could be just the fan though. Also the RPMS are high and then go back to normal after a few minutes. I have never experienced this with my other Toyota's and am not sure what is wrong.

Thanks

My 97 does the same thing....as does my friends 01. It cranks a few times before starting....more than some other cars. The engine is pretty loud when it first starts and the RPMs are high with mine too. After a few minutes it's down to normal though. I think it is normal.

Make sure to do a good tune up on the truck (air filter, fuel filter, plugs, clean TB).
The truck should be a bit loud at startup because of the fan and yes the RPMs are higher.
It should just do this until it is warmed up.

The tune up should take care of the hard start tho.

mine doesn't really have any trouble starting, no more than most cars. But yeah the engine will idle at higher rpm's until its warmed up and it will be loud.
