92 Tacoma....need avdvice

Okay so i am new to the forum. I found a really good looking 92 tacoma with a 3" lift, 32x11.5 tires, 4 cylinder, 5-speed, amazing shape. but it has 170k on it and he wants $4200 for it.

First....is this a good deal?
Second....is there anything i have to worry about a truck with this many miles?

Thanks for any help you can give. I need a new 4x4 and i came across this and thought it looked great. Check the pic.

Welcome aboard
Looks good in the pic how does it drive? Is there any leaks under it? Is there a lot of rust under the bed ( there the first to rust ) Ask the person selling it if they have any records of repairs done to it like did they change the oil at 3000 was it tuned up every 30k

First, that is not a Tacoma.

Second, that is pretty high mileage, but those 22's seem to go forever.

Third, welcome.

Looks pretty straight from the pic but its hard to tell. Id be concerned about rust and what not like lunatic said. If its been putty'd up and half-azz'd its not worth it. Take it for a spin and c how it feels.

Give him a break, he's new here. That truck is just called a toyota pickup. The name Tacoma was given to pickups from 1995 to now (at least that's what I remember)

Where do you live? There is some trucks for sale in the classified section here. Take your time picking one. I found a few junkers before I found mine.

As a owner of a 92 pickup w/ 190K, this would be the things I would check.
1. Has the timming chain ever been replaced? If so was it replaced before it wore a hole in the water pump housing? (learned that the hard way)
2. Have any of the fluid seals been replaced? Front Main Seal, Rear Main, Rear T-case, etc.. (these have all been replaced due to failure in mine).
3. Has coolant system ever been flushed?
4. Has the 4x4 locking hubs and front wheel bearings been serviced?
5. When if at all was the Clutch replaced and where all components replaced T/O bearing, pressure plate, pilot bearing.

These are just some things that have been done on a simmilar truck with that amount of miles (low for toyotas)

Also the 22re's are bullet proof, but are not burners.
And $4200 for non-extended cab is a little high.
