86 4Runner overheating
Hi, I just bought an 86 4Runner and it seems to heat up a little bit when idling at stop lights and after I drive it for a while stop, and turn it back on the temp gauge goes to the top but as soon as I start driving it goes back down. I replaced the thermostat, had the radiator boiled and put new hoses on but, it still does it. Took it to the dealer and they told me the headgasket was blown and possibly a cracked head and that I should consider getting a new car. It doesn't seem to use that much oil, but I definitely have oil in the coolant. I've continued to drive it but it definitely lacks power. Well I guess my question is that would I still be able to drive it if the head was cracked, it seems to run pretty well having a bad headgasket. Is there any signs I can look for that indicate a cracked head and how common is it for the heads to crack in these?

yuo have temperature guage overshoot... the solution is to replace it with a dual stage thermostat.... if your thermostat is stuck closed, severe engine damage can occur.... http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...tml#Thermostat
