85 4Runner issues

I recently purchased an 85 4runner SR5
I need to pass MD state inspection and need some hints on getting my light combo (steering column switch) to work properly. I've checked fuses and replaced lights. The running lights work properly but the high and low beams do not. High beams are available when using the momentary switch. Any advice or even tips on wiring auxillary switches so that I can pass inspection would be greatly appreciated.

Future plans call for 33's, powertrax Lockrights (ft&rr), 4.56 gears, 5"skyjacker lift, and a set of teraflex revolver shackles for the corners.

just wire your lights up to a 3 way switch, and mount it on the dash. use one position for off, one for high, and one for low. the switches are pretty simple to set up, but you will need to cut a few wires.

and for your future plans, if you are planning on running revolvers, then i suggest you stay low with the lift. no more than 3". the unloading of the revolvers combines with a 5" skyjacker could make the rig tippy. and if you are going to regear, with the 33's, go at least 4.88. you will not regret it. mine with 32's and 4.10's can barely get out of its own way. i personally plan on 5.29's for 33's, just to undergear it a little. and welcome to the board, enjoy your stay!
