Unhappy 4x4 wont engage

Last week I was having a little play in some sand. Nothing heavy duty just putting around at low speed enjoying the view. When I got to the main road, I turned onto the pavement, not thinking, and got the 4x4 wobble on the asphalt. Being as "smart" as I am, I flicked my 4x4 button, and with a clunk she came out of 4x4.

Now she does not want to go into 4x4 to well. When I flick the switch I can hear the motor buzz but the 4x4 light does not come on. I have gotten it to go into 4x4 a couple times since, so I don’t think I "permanently" broke anything. Anyone have any input? She used to go into 4x4 with no problems, could this just be she needs some grease or something I hope?

Thanks

Arron

Have you checked to make sure that your front diff has enough fluid? It shouldn't wobble in 4wd on the asphalt.

There should not be any wobble with the 4wd when turning on the pavement? My jeep was really bad for it, my old truck was, and sure i felt it with this one on the asphalt. Cant say im one to drive on the pavement with 4x4 on b/c i never wanted to damage the front end. I will check the fluid level level on the front end. So the toyota 4x4 (not awd) can run ok on the dry pavement?

No, any part-time 4WD with no center diff cannot run on dry pavement without stressing the 4WD components.
