I'd like that alot.
All they did for May was the same as April.
$750 or 1.9% financing.

Hi all,

I'd just like to chime in on what I heard at my local Toyota dealer today. I was there to testdrive a Dbl Cab V6 TRD in hope of making my 4Runner Sport V8 vs Tacoma Dbl Cab V6 TRD decision. After driving the Tacoma for about an hour.. (I put 30+ miles on it) I was checking out the interior of a 4Runner when a new salesman came over to chat. (it was about 8:30pm) He said that the new 05 Tacoma would be out in August (limited availability) and that it would be based on the same frame as the current 4Runner. He also said that there would probably be a V8 option. He specifically mentioned a V6 with supercharger.

I wonder if the 05 Tacoma will have the current 04 Tacoma V6 or the new 03/04 4Runner aluminum V6. This would imply they are coming out with a new supercharger for the new engine right?

I'm torn between waiting or going with my gut and getting the 4Runner.

Also, I mentioned to him that I had read about the X-Runner online and he said that there would be other styles coming out at the same time. Double Cab, etc.

This is what I know as FACT:
The new Tacoma will have the same frame (extended) and same 4.0 V6 as the 4Runner.
The x-runner will have the supercharged 4.0 V6.

They will have double cab (4 door), king cab.

The new Tacoma will have nothing in common with the 04.

This is my guess:

I am going to assume that since it is the same 4.0L V6, the supercharger will be available for the 4Runner as well (TRD option? like the current V8).

regular cab available(but I think that will be a limited style mostly for fleet-type duty, just my opinion).

I haven't heard anything about the V8 in the Tacoma. My guess is that they will wait until the Tundra redesign and then offer the V8 in the Tacoma. If they did it right now they would totally kill Tundra DC sales immediately, imo.

I don't know about you guys but I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable buying the first year of anything. Not unless it's used and all the kinks have been figured out and fixed.

That's just me though

I generally agree but I bought a first year Xterra and first year 4Runner with no problems so I guess it just depends.
I would worry less about the Tacoma since it already has alot of the important stuff proven on the 4Runner going on 2 yrs now.

Actually,

I spoke with the TRD rep. and he said that TRD has no intentions of making anything at all for the new 4.0 v6. They said that since this is Toyota's first all aluminum engine, that they don't plan to risk anything making a supercharger for it. But don't take my word for it, call them. The number is 1-800-688-5912.

Does anyone know if there's going to be two platforms for the new Taco?

Kind of like how they had the old Hilux for worldwide markets when the Taco first came out here in the states.

Speaking of the new Chevy Colorado, it doesn't look that bad. At least it's an improvment over the previous S10. IMO, the S10 looked like it was designed by the same folks who did that awful "Orca the whale" ('91-'97) jellybean Caprice. Ugh! LOL!

Toyota has produced all-aluminum engines for years and TRD has sold superchargers for them for some time (Solara V-6, Matrix).

The official X-Runner press release confirms that TRD will sell a blower for the 4.0 V-6. The Scion tC press release also announced that a TRD S/C will be available for the all-aluminum Camry based engine. Who to believe, a TRD rep or the Executive VP of Toyota Motor Sales USA?

What improvements does everyone want to see in the 2005 Tacoma 4X4, compared to the previous generation?

How about more power, better mileage, comfortable front seats, better safety features?

What else?

Exactly what kyle 2r said plus 2" more ground clearance not 2" less, and make it smaller. I like the current double cabs and have been thinking of getting one later this summer. The one major thing is doesn't have that I want is a 5 spd. WTF is up with that?

Man, that looks so good!! Looks like it has 2" on the 4Runner for ground clearance...what do you think Bud? The front looks higher up anyway.

Looks great! I really like the front end and the whole thing looks tough.

There was some info on the TTROA as well that the double cab will be available with a 6 spd. manual tranny. If that the case I found my new vehicle.
