4th gen airbag replacement

I was cruising ebay auctions when I saw this auction for 4th generation 4runner airbags. WOW, you have to change the whole dash out to replace the passenger side airbag.

Wow that's a lot to replace just for an airbag.

I'll bet a lot of the 4th gen's will be considered a "total loss" by the insurance companies if the airbag went off.

I still don't see what part of the dash the passenger air bag comes out of, what flips up or open

I wouldn't buy that (if I needed an airbag) I would go straight to the deal to get one. My opinion.

It is just over the glove compartment. The 2003 4Runner is the first Toyota vehicle with a seamless cover over the passenger airbag.

i know this is an old thread but is it possible to change the pass airbag without taking the dash out? maybe take the glove box out and try to get it out that way?
