4runner w/ Bed Camper

I just had a random idea. Anybody ever thought of putting a bed camper in a 1st gen 4runner, take the top off and rig it up somehow, that would be really sweet. Any ideas?

there are quite a few threads on this subject. some people have come up with some pretty ingenious ideas for maximizing storage and sleeping space. use the search feature and type in sleeping platform or similar and you will have plenty of reading, lots of pix and even a few vids of how things work.

I've got a little folding Cot that's about 10in off the ground, nd I just found that it fits down one side with the rear seat folded in half... kind of a nice little discovery for the upcomming winter camping season, plus, it holds the cot in place, and keeps space for my gear beside me... now I just neet to rig up a better deck light like the 4Crawler LED set-up...

As to your original post of a camper on the 4runner, I've seen some conversions on the internet, they look like pretty solid rigs, but it's ALOT of fiberglass work, and I doubt the 22re's gonna pull it up a hill with alot of authority... sounds like the perfect project for a healthy Turbo Diesel

It would proabably be ok with a gear change...I have an air mattress that i put in the back with one seat folded down, but I dont have alot of room for my gear...what i need is a roof rack...that would give me alot more space inside. anybody know of any cheap ones....under $300?
