ive got an '01 3.4l v6 (5vz-fe), manual transmission/4wd. ive acquired an engine from a '97 4runner limited, automatic transmission/4wd, also a 3.4l v6 (5vz-fe) with a lot less mileage. can i swap the engines, and do i need any kind of conversion kit, or are they similar enough to just plug in the existing wiring harness and go? im having a hard time finding any information on this, what will i need to do to make this swap? thanks in advance for your help.

 

You really should check in the 3.4 swap section.

The basic engine swap will be pretty straight forward where it will get interesting is the wiring end .

 

I'm pretty sure it will all bolts right up. You will just use all your wiring that's already in the car. Does't matter which transmission the motor was originally mated with. It's just like swapping out any other long block. The real question is is your motor failing and are you certain this one is any better?

 

U will need to swap your maniflods crossover pipe and throttle body and possibly the top intake manifold other than that they are the same
