4Runner roof rack on a Landcruiser

I'm tired of my big ass roof rack. So my buddy with a 1990 Landcruiser is trying to put it on his roof. Since the brackets are adjustable we think it should work...should it?

If we can't get it to fit on the strips on the roof, he wants to drill into the roof....is this a good idea? Anything we should know before doing this? I don't want him to $%&@ up his car. It's a sweet landcruiser....

ehhh drilling the body is an extroudinaly (spelling) bad idea at any time. ESPECIALLY on the roof...its going to get wet a lot.

that will rust out pretty quickly and turn into roof cancer runing the truck...unless you sanded the holes down to the metal and sprayed them with some kind of anti-rust paint of course

Ah, well we have some silicone to seal the holes, I asked Brian (Waskillywabbit) about it and he suggested the silicone.

Anyone else got some input? This cruiser CANNOT be ruined. =D
