Is it possible to mount an V6 ARB in a supra MKIII housing?

A friend is into supra’s and he wants to build a MKIII supra with 2JZ-GTE engine for drifting. The car has to be driven to and from the circuit so the locker needs to be selectable. The desired gear ratio is 3.3 but 3.54 will do also. I allready found that the 3.54 ratio is available in normal 8” version.
In my experience I found that:
a) the 8” V6 gears can be replaced with 8” gears when shimmed out properly
b) the supra (86-95) uses 8” V6 gears
c) the supra LSD fits the V6 housing
d) the ARB is available in V6 model, but normal 8” model fits also when V6 gears are used
He first wanted to replace the rear axle of this supra with a Hilux solid axle, OEM locker , 2WD axle stubs (5 bolt) and MKIII rear discs and MKII rear parking brake drums.
I allready built this axle (except for the locker) but now he wants to use this for a customer with a new project and maintain the supra rear suspension and just fit an ARB.

So, is it possible to use an ARB in an supra MKIII housing?
If the supra LSD fits the V6 4Runner the axlestubs should have the exact same splines, right?

P.S.: I don't want to start a debat about safety or things braking apart. It's only going to be raced on circuit and we have lots of spare parts.

i have a 2wd 8" rear, can you tell me what i need to do to have rear disk?

 

I think it will fit okay, but I doubt the ARB would live very long. They aren't all that strong.

 

You need:
both supra MKIII (88-95) rear backing plates, parking brake machanisme, shoes and discs.
I used Nissan rear brake calipers because they were at hand, you could use the supra rear calipers.

Take off the OEM backing plates. Remove the bearinghousing.
Have the centerhole of the MKIII backing plates drilled/milled to the exact same dimension as the dimension of your OEM backing plate centerhole.
Measure your 2WD axle at the spot were the discs will be mounted. Use a lath to enlarge the centerhole of the MKIII discs to this dimension. The bolt pattern is the same as your 2WD.

Now mount your OEM bearinghousing onto the MKIII backing plate. Align it and drill the four holes needed for the studs.
Mount the studs and assemble your 2WD axle as usual.
Mount the discs and caliper and you can start fabbin your caliper mounting brakets. A small amount of material needs te be grinded off the dust shield (depending on your calipers).You also need to make a small bracket for the centerbolt.:



Now you can hook up the parking brake cables. I did not mount the axle in a 2WD so I cannot comment on this.

Change your MC to a LC80 MC and re-adjust the LSPV.

When ready it should look like this:

 

I know the ARB can break. Happened once in my frontend. It can be reinforced with extra bolts.

A OEM electric locker will not be an option since the third members are way different.
