That's my Gold Pearl 4Runner in the first gen ad!

I used to have that ad poster, and the movie poster from Back To The Future hanging in the garage, both of which I got from the dealership. The movie poster the dealership had had the Toyota 4x4 on it, not the Delorean that was on the theater poster. I had an 85 Short Bed 4x4, SR5 Black, (which I traded on the Gold 4Runner) and when we saw Back to the Future at the theater I was parked right in front of the exit. Cool when everyone came out and were ooohing and aaahing over this truck - exactly like the one shown at the end of the movie! Then we walked over and got in.... hey, I was like 24 years old, it was a very cool moment! Too bad I left that poster in that garage, I doubt it's still there....

I can tell you the location of at least five of those medalist versions. Three of my neighbors in Vancouver had them and I know of two or three more here in Ottawa.

Over here in Japan - that is how most of the 2nd gen models come equipped.

Cool ads! I like the one for the 2nd gen that talks about "V6 Power".

Here are a couple 3rd Gen Highlander & Limited Ads from JA's site:

Yeah, that second gen V-6 Power line gave me a chuckle, too! I am especially keen on the second gen gold 4Runner pictured -- it looks just like mine.

Good for you man, was thinking of oing this myself but I don't have the patience to track them all down. Hey can I link to a few of these for VA4ROC.com? I want to give you the credit but if you would rather not deal with the link I'll still give you credit if you scanned them. How many did you find online? I have the 89 4r dealer specs brochures that I found online, dunno who to credit with it though.

These are time sensitive of course, but I ran across these on ebay!

89 4Runner 2 door! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2481919293

79ish? All models: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...117081953&rd=1

03 Taco: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...116831362&rd=1

04 Tundra Nascar: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6753

65 Landcruiser: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...289128968&rd=1
68 Landcruiser: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...116893998&rd=1
71 Landcruiser: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...116659399&rd=1

and to prove the SR5 started in 76: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...116785941&rd=1

There are a lot of them: search for "toyota poster" or "toyota ad"
Lotsa Supra ads too. Sad thing is I remember most of these ads. (damn I'm gettin old.)
I have no affiliation with any of these sellers, I just accidently noticed this stuff and thought it was cool.

[[look how cheap!:]]

Yep, I bought a new 85 Standard Cab 4x4 SR5 with every option in 84, it stickered 14,000 and I paid 11, the base model 4x4 with no frills was $8987. When I bought the SR5 85 4Runner in 85 (the 86 models were on the lot) it stickered at under 18k (also with every option) I paid 14,300. I miss those days. Of course, I only made like 6 bucks an hour back then - my house payment was $304... I REALLY miss those days! But hey, I sold that 4Runner 15 years later for 10,500!! Hard to complain about that.

Dont u guys love the 1st generation ads! There were really no other cool 4x4's when those came out-- It was like a new thing to have a japanese 4x4 with removable top that could actually go offroad!

I wish I could have grown up in the 80's when those things were the coolest!
