4Runner 3.4L leak help

Okay I searched most of the leak threads, but couldn't find one like mine.

I think I've got more than one leak around the drivers side lower engine. I think my steering rack is shot and leaking fluid, but I also seem to be leaking oil somewhere in the same area. There is apparently oil coming out of a breather tube (tranny???) There is also oil all around the steering rack....Pictures might be worth more than words here. Can anyone tell me what's going on? By the way, none of the fluids are noticeably lower on the dip sticks than when they were filled.

Notice the oil drenching the breather tube (breather for what?):

On the left side of the picture is the steering column coming into the steering rack. I think the steering rack is leaking:

Power steering lines??:

Thanks for any advice in advance

The breather in your pics is for the front differential. I'd hazard a guess from looking at the pics, that that's the only place the oil is coming from.

I'd pull the breather out of the hose pictured, clean it with some brake clean, and make sure it and the hose it's installed in is not blocked between it and the front diff.

Then I'd check the front diff for the proper gear oil level, and that the gear oil isn't contaminated. Replace gear oil if necessary.

Thank you, I will look at the diff today. I'm not sure what to expect to find. The dealer changed the diff fluid 18 months (30K miles) ago and I haven't touched it since. I use 4WD maybe 1-2 times per month except in the winter. We will see.

Mtn Mike,

Did it turn out to be the front diff breather that was leaking or the steering rack? My diff breather is covered in oil and looks exactly the same as your picture. I just had the dealer replace the rear axle seals (did it 2 time each side and decided I was tired of doing it). Anyways, they also said the steering rack was leaking and needed to be replaced. When I looked all I saw was oil on the breather like in your pics. Just wondering how it turned out for you.

Thanks.
