Does 44K Intake system cleaner eliminate the need to disassemble the intake tract on the 22RE engine?



I just had my intake system cleaned out by my mechanic (and my wallet considerably cleaned out too) and I was wondering if this highly touted stuff would help to keep the throttle body from getting gummed up. My throttle was actually sticking after sitting overnight, and the engine was not running very well at low RPM's. Once the mechanic cleared the intake tract out, it ran much better.

I thought the 44K stuff was for the fuel system and is just put into the gas tank? It would have nothing to do with the intake.

 

How do you think the fuel gets from the tank to the cylinders? Through the intake.

 

if it were throttlebody injected it would clean the intake, but if it's port fuelinjected then it's going to clean the injectors that spray directly into the cylinders.

 

22RE's are not throttle body injection. I think it's some kind of Bosch multi-port injection.

 

It will not clean the throttle body or intake.

It is a fuel system cleaner that you pour into your tank. It will clean the injectors, intake valves and cumbustion chamber.
