The FSM says to use sst #09817-06011 to remove the knock sensor. Is this necessary? Can't you just reach in and twist and pull? Going to replace mine and looking to clarify the processes.

I had to borrow the socket to remove mine when I swapped the engine - It had sealer on the threads and would not loosen by hand. I ended up buying
a new sensor when my son knocked it off the work bench and broke the top off. New Knock sensor from Toyota is $200.00 unless you know somebody.
My sister works there so I got it for 1/2 price.

Toyota could have mounted that some beach on the outside of the motor
but they did'nt - bastards
